Originally written for Max Wellman and my big band, this piece utilizes novel textures to keep the interest of your listeners. After a quick sendoff, the vocalist launches into the tune over a unison counterline in the rhythm section. A short but exciting sax soli follows, leading into bright brass feature and 8 bars of call and response across the ensemble before the texture thins to the soloists. The vocalist sings the melody to bring it home as the whole band supports them with another unison counterline. A blues lick at the very end ties the knot on this quick and fun arrangement.
